Magnolia Offering
We are finally getting resettled in North Carolina - Wilmington turns out to be the place we liked best. It is charming, historic, picturesque and has a great artist community. One of my old friends who had moved here years earlier from Denver, told us about a beautiful lake area for painting - one drawback - Alligators! Yikes! I don't think I'll be doing any plein air painting there - maybe take some photos for reference. Wilmington has a chapter of Urban Sketchers, a great way to meet other artists and end up with a painting or drawing. I look forward to exploring with paint brush in hand.
We love the trees here - the magnolias are enormous and every other kind of tree is magnificent - the Live Oaks with the hanging Spanish Moss, 80 foot tall Pine Trees, every other tree that grows too. I finally got my paints out and first painting was, of course, a magnolia that greeted us at one of the rest areas as we traveled West to East in North Carolina.
